(Photo by Assawin Pakkawan)Heavy rain is again expected in six southern provinces along the Gulf of Thailand this weekend, the Meteorological Department warned on Thursday. The weather agency forecast is for likely downpours in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat from Saturday to Monday. Eleven southern provinces have been battered by floods since Nov 25 after days of heavy rain. Floods claimed 33 lives and damaged more than 500,000 houses, according to the latest report of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department. Some districts in Songkhla, Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani are still flooded, while the situation in other provinces has been eased, it added.
